Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
How will I feel after the massage session?
Most of my clients report that they feel relaxed, and yet, somehow energized, both, after their massage. With this type of rehabilitative care, if you feel some soreness for up to 24 hours please realize that this is part of the healing process. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
What is the difference between Lomilomi and Swedish Massage?
Lomilomi and Swedish share many of the same strokes and techniques, however, lomilomi also incorporates passive stretching, joint manipulation, and lymphatic massage. Lomilomi is much more thorough, and it always works with the circulatory systems of the body, never against them. Lomilomi is very organized, meaning that there is a reason I start where I start, and then where I proceed….the place on which I am working will help release where I go next, and it builds on that. Lomilomi rarely attacks a stress point “head-on”, but, rather, in a way, “sneaks up” on the problem area in such a manner that it may have already released by the time I get there.
What should I wear for the massage?
I want you to be comfortable, so you can either disrobe completely, or leave your underwear on. You will have privacy while you prepare and get on the table; once on the table, you will be professionally draped during the entire massage.
